Gary McKinnon

David Cameron looked pretty comfortable being questioned about Lockberie. But then, that’s hardly surprising. As I discussed in my last post, he blamed it all on the Scots. He appeared less happy when I asked him about the case of computer hacker Gary McKinnon. And that’s no surprise, either, because this has the potential to be a very tricky issue for him. Regardless of the rights or wrongs of the case (and it is clear many people feel that forcing Gary to stand trial in the USA would be pretty extreme), David Cameron said repeatedly before the election that he should not be extradited. Nick Clegg said the same thing, with even more force. They are both going to look pretty stupid if the extradition goes ahead, particularly after the Cameron/Obama love in we have just witnessed at the White House.
